(1968, Anamorphic Widescreen) Joachim Fuchsberger, Siw Mattson, Wolfgang Kieling, Pinkas Braun, Klaus Kinski. Another fine German-made Edgar Wallace chiller. When a laughing corpse comes back to life to kill its heirs (with a poison-filled scorpion-shaped ring), a dashing Scotland Yard inspector (Fuchsberger) is called in to navigate a labyrinth of secret passages and family scandals to unmask the killer. This very cool Krimi film features a nice blend of gothic horror elements with the standard Edgar Wallace whodunit structure. Look for an outstanding performance by Klaus Kinski in a supporting role. Directed by longtime Edgar Wallace director Harald Reinl. Aka The Zombie Walks. Nice color, from a beautiful 35mm print.
