(1938, aka CRACKERJACK) Tom Walls, Lilli Palmer, Noel Madison, Leon M. Lion, Edmund Breon. Walls is excellent as a sophisticated gentleman-thief and master of disguise who operates as a modern-day “Robin-Hood-type” known to the public as "Crackerjack". When a ruthless gang of criminals hijacks a plane to steal diamonds, Walls manages to outsmart them and snatch the loot himself. The plot thickens when a series of high-profile crimes at society parties are attributed to him, leading Scotland Yard to believe he has turned to murder. To clear his name and track down the real killers, Walls uses his "hundred faces" to go undercover, eventually falling for a beautiful baroness (Lilli Palmer) while eluding the authorities. Very cool. From 35mm.
