(1968, Anamorphic Widescreen) William F. McGaha, Fred Lorenzen, Peggie O'Hara, David Marcus, Carol Street. This was typical drive-in theater fare back in the ‘60s and it’s a lot of fun. An up-and-coming race car driver seeks the big time, but his father and a champion driver refuse to let him compete because of his lack of experience. Desperate to make it on his own, he joins a rival team run by a gorgeous female manager and a flashy gangster. He’s soon manipulated into a perilous underworld of go-go girls and high-stakes race-fixing; and before long he’s coerced into trying to destroy his own family and heroes to satisfy the desires of his crooked associates. Lots of cool racing scenes and good-looking ‘60s babes in bikinis. Wait till you see the drummer in the rock and roll band. Really schlocky but great drive-in fun. Pop some popcorn and enjoy it. Beautiful color, from 35mm.
