Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, James Finlayson. Here is a collection of Stan and Ollie’s early horror-comedy shorts, featuring some of their most hilarious routines. You get 1. THE LAUREL-HARDY MURDER CASE (1930). In one of their earliest talkies, Stan and Ollie go to an old dark house in the middle of the night during a blinding storm so that Stan can claim his inheritance. The house becomes overrun with spooky hi-jinks and screaming guests. The scene with the “ghost bat” is hysterical. 2. HABEAS CORPUS (1928) After arriving at an old dark house, the boys are hired by a crazy scientist to steal a corpse from a local cemetery. The ensuing slapstick has Stan and Ollie confronting a wet paint sign and a cemetery wall. The scene where the boys discover a walking corpse will make you howl. A synchronized soundtrack with music score is featured. 3. DO DETECTIVES THINK? (1927) Great fun as the boys are hired to protect a judge (Finlayson) from a monstrous killer known as “The Tipton Slasher.” They arrive at the judge’s house but are unaware that the butler is actually the killer in disguise. VERY funny stuff. Silent with music score. From 35mm.
