(1925, Fox) Tom Mix, Beatrice Burnum, Arthur Morrison, Warner Oland, Fred Kohler. With Tom Mix as the hero and Warner Oland as the bad guy what more could you want? Tom, a tough Texas Ranger, sets out to find the killer (guess who) of his sister and to find his long lost niece, who is in Oland’s evil clutches. His searching goes on for years, during which he encounters all kinds of danger and adventure. This is an EPIC B-western with many wonderful moments. The imagery in this film is incredible: cattle-covered plains, majestic mountains, lofty waterfalls and more. Shot at Lone Pine, California with some wonderful Alabama Hills locations. Produced by William Fox at a point when Mix was at the peak of his career and one of the biggest stars in the country. B-westerns don’t get any better than this. This is probably the best video quality around on this classic title. Silent with music score, from 16mm.
