(1967, Anamorphic Widescreen) Peter Lawford, Ira von Fürstenberg, Georges Géret, Maria Grazia Buccella, Horst Frank, Werner Peters, Wolfgang Preiss. One of the most enjoyable Eurospy films we’ve seen in a long time. Géret is excellent as a French pickpocket who inadvertently steals some highly classified papers that belong to the U.S. but were stolen by an underworld group known as “The Organization.” He and his girlfriend are chased all over Europe by CIA agent Lawford; and the bad guys, headed by Peters and Frank. This is a serious, action-packed Eurospy film, yet there is a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor that fits seamlessly into the serious goings-on. Géret is wonderful, von Fürstenberg is beautifully innocent, Lawford is a solid leading man, but it’s Horst Frank who almost steals the show as a shockingly cold, calculated killer. The film’s last little twist will put a big smile on your face. Way cool. Beautiful color, dubbed in English, from 35mm.
