(1972, Anamorphic Widescreen) Diana Sorel, Nicholas Ney, Inés Morales, Loreta Tovar, Beatriz Elorrieta, Jose Villasante. At last, a nice quality anamorphic release of the English version of this obscure Euro-vampire film. The patriarch of a wellborn Spanish family has come down with a strange blood disease. He calls in a beautiful lady doctor and her equally beautiful female assistant to find out what’s wrong. Little do they know that the son and his female cousin are vampires, the cousin having been infected by a big, goofy-looking male vampire, who has some of the dopiest fangs you’ll ever see. Soon people are getting bitten and—like in so many Spanish horror films of the ‘70s—good-looking actresses start shedding their clothes. The plot really doesn’t make a whole lot of sense but who cares. If you like this kind of raw Euro-horror you’re going to get a kick out of this movie. There’s a fair amount of nudity including topless and full frontal, plus a lesbian scene. Nice color, 35mm.
