(1965, Anamorphic Widescreen) Kirk Morris, Luciana Gilli, Piero Lulli, Andrea Scotti, Hélène Chanel, Mahmoud El-Sabbaa. Mysterious "phantom invaders" are raiding villages in the desert for gold. Morris is a shipwrecked warrior who falls in love with a princess, whose entourage is traveling across the desert. When the princess is kidnapped by the “phantoms,” Morris and his companion trudge across the desert in hopes of rescuing her. What they find is the lost city of Atlantis, where the princess has been hypnotized into believing she’s the Atlanteans’ soon-to-be new queen, replacing the beautiful but ancient Hélène Chanel. But the real villain here is Chanel’s mad scientist, who is aided by swarms of gold-faced zombie-robots and a bevy of beautiful female warriors. There are some cool lab scenes and (of course) the entire city of Atlantis is sitting upon a rumbling volcano. We’ll give you one guess to figure out what happens at the climax. Lots of fun.
