Armchair fiction presents deluxe paperback editions of the best in classic science fiction novels. John Martin Leahy’s “Draconda” is a science fiction classic right out of the pages of Weird Tales magazine. The secrets of the universe have captivated scientists and philosophers for thousands of years. However, Henry Quainfan was determined to solve these secrets. Drawn to Venus and all that lay hidden under its thick, clouded atmosphere, he believed the answers to those secrets lay there. So Quainfan went to work creating the Hornet, a spherical spaceship that would take him to the “Planet of Love.” Accompanied by his two best friends, a large haul of supplies, and a bit of delusional thinking, he soared through space, eventually landing on the “Morning Star” herself. However, when a falling meteor struck and vaporized the Hornet and all her earthly supplies, Quainfan and his companions quickly faced the challenge of survival on the planet. Willing to do whatever it took to keep the all alive, he accepted help from the Ohams, a native race guided by learning and knowledge. However, little did they know that their Venusian hosts were embroiled in a civil war that threatened the lives of not only their newfound friends, but of Quainfan and his fellow space travelers themselves.
