Drive in Double Features .DRIVE-IN DOUBLE FEATURE #253

ALIEN CONTAMINATION (1981) Ian McCulloch, Louise Marlo, Marino Mase, Siegfried Rauch. What a hoot! This Alien rip-off starts with an eerie ship pulling into NY harbor. On board is a cargo of green pulsating eggs. The eggs explode and cause a green acid to get into your skin, causing you to die a most horrible death. It seems the eggs were concocted by a one-eyed Martian who’s hiding out in South America. This movie is a real trip. A delicious morsel of schlock.  AKA Contamination.  Beautiful color, from 35mm.

WOLFMAN (1979) Earl Owensby, Kristina Reynolds, Sid Rancer, Ed Grady, Richard Dedmon.  The film begins with the stabbing death of an old man as he lays in bed—something about a family curse!  The heir to the estate returns home to find he’s now cursed to become a werewolf during the full moon!  Before you know it, villagers with torches are searching for the Wolfman!  Owensby isn’t exactly Lon Chaney (he’s a bit on the pudgy side) but somehow it all works. The fact that you have characters dressed in 1800s-style clothing but talking like modern southern rednecks adds to the schlockiness of it all.  Grady, who hams it up in Lugosi style, is great as the evil priest. Adding to it all is a nice, lurid score. Good color, 35mm.
