(1929) Anny Ondra, John Longden, Sara Allgood, Directed by Alfred Hitchcock. A pretty girl goes on a date with a young male artist. When he gets her to his apartment he tries to rape her. She kills him in self-defense. Before leaving the apartment she removes all evidence; but later on finds herself the target of a blackmailer, who threatens to expose her. Complicating matters is the fact that her main boyfriend is a policeman who is investigating the case! Together they plot to frame the blackmailer for the murder! Can they…will they…pull it off? Great early Hitchcock. From 35mm. Bonus Feature: THE FLYING SCOTSMAN (1929) Moore Marriott, Pauline Johnson, Ray Milland. Milland (who was only 21 at the time) plays a fireman stoking the flames on the Flying Scotsman train from London to Edinburgh. The train’s driver, whose daughter Milland is in love with, is set to retire. But Milland’s predecessor, who was fired (pun intended) for drinking on the job, plans to wreck the express on the aging driver's last haul. The actual Flying Scotsman train was used in the filming of this movie. Good, exciting fun. From 35mm.
