(1966, Anamorphic Widescreen) Lon Chaney, John Carradine, Rochelle Hudson, Roger Gentry, Vic McGee. If you’ve ever seen this film, you know how wonderfully awful it is. It’s kind of a bottom-of-the-barrel imitation of Twice Told Tales or Tales of Terror—it’s got the same overall look and feel (they even borrow footage from several Corman Poe films). There are five different macabre tales, the most enjoyably bad being “Spark of Life,” with Chaney playing a crazed mad doctor who’s able to bring the dead back to life. His “I’m a genius!” line is imbedded in the annals of horror film history (and not in a good way). Vampires, werewolves and other supernatural entities abound in this Z-classic. Cool. Beautiful color, from 35mm.
