HUNCHBACK OF THE MORGUE (1973, Anamorphic) Paul Naschy, Rosanna Yanni, Alberto Dalbes, Maria Perschy. Paul’s a ghastly hunchback with low intelligence. His only pal, a young lady, dies! When a couple of guys dump her corpse into an acid vat, Paul goes nuts and rips them to pieces. A mad doctor promises he’ll restore the girl’s life if Paul does his evil bidding. Paul agrees; horror follows. This is very bloody with a bit of nudity, but it’s still an old-fashioned mad doctor movie with a monster in the closet. Cool! Great Color, 35mm.
HORROR RISES FROM THE TOMB (1973, Anamorphic) Paul Naschy, Vic Winner, Emma Cohen, Helga Line. In Medieval France, a warlock has his head cut off. His wife is tortured and slain. But...voila! Paul's spirit returns to modern times and takes possession of his descendant, who looks exactly like him. Horrific atrocities soon occur. This is one of Paul's cheeziest films, but it's still lots of fun. They didn't come much more beautiful than Helga Line. Rated R for violence and nudity.
