MANOS, THE HANDS OF FATE (1966) Tom Neyman, John Reynolds, Diane Adelson, Hal Warren. This film is worshipped by bad film lovers everywhere. A family on vacation stops at a creepy house for directions. They meet Torgo, the caretaker, played by Reynolds, who gives one of the most spasmodically weird performances of all time. Soon devil-worshiping cultists put them through the meat grinder. As bad as this movie is, Neyman actually does an okay job as "the Master." His "window close-up" might actually make you jump. The scenes of his cult brides "fighting" are hilarious. Warren, as Michael, is perhaps the most inept husband ever portrayed on film (we're not kidding). You may find yourself rooting for the devil cultists. The film was shot silent and dubbed later and an uncredited voice actress did all the women in the film. You simply must see this bad film classic! Nice color, 35mm.
BLOOD THIRST (1965, Anamorphic Edition) Robert Winston, Yvonne Nielson, Vic Silayan, Vic Diaz. Winston is a special U.S. agent who comes to Manila to help a homicide detective solve a series of grotesque murders that are being committed by a really cool-looking monster. What no one knows is that the bad guys are part of a blood cult that has survived for hundreds of years by drinking the blood of young women. One of the most enticing things about this film is its dark, creepy settings, which really add to the overall atmosphere. Blood Thirst is a film badly maligned by some, and admittedly it's no classic, but a comfy spot on the couch and a bowl of hot, buttered popcorn will help you enjoy the wonderful schlockiness of this film.
