(1969) José Luis López Vázquez, John Steiner, Amparo Soler Leal, Antonio Casas, Nuria Torray, Alfredo Mayo. A respected peddler, who works between two villages, suffers from seizures during which he becomes—in his mind—a werewolf. When four women disappear, the villagers become suspicious. Vazquez gives a wonderful performance as a man tortured by the beast within him in a moody film that’s filled with dark imagery. Like all good werewolf movies, there’s a climax where the villagers hunt down the beast. Aka The Ancines Forest. In Spanish with English subs. Great color, 35mm.
