(1967) Ryôhei Uchida, Kôtarô Satomi, Kyoko Mikage, Hiroshi Nawa, Tatsuo Matsumura. In ancient Japan, a treasonous underling overthrows his master. He buries his former boss, alive, inside a wall. When he takes after the wife, she drowns herself in a nearby swamp along with her cat, thus cursing the swamp for all time. Years later same despicable fellow commits a similar atrocity, slaying a young lord who refuses to hand over the woman he loves. They are both murdered in the same swamp. Soon the corrupt lord is faced with the supernatural vengeance of those he has slain. The last fifteen minutes of this movie are filled with moments of true supernatural terror (you’ll cover your eyes). Watch for the scene when the body of his slain master comes crashing through the wall and onto the floor. Wow! This is a great movie. English subs. 35mm.
