THE GOLD EXPRESS (1955) Vernon Gray, Ann Walford, May Hallatt, Patrick Boxill, Ivy St. Helier, John Serret. Gray plays a handsome reporter who, along with his new bride, are about to embark on their honeymoon when he is assigned to cover a story on express train loaded with a fortune in gold. Unknown to all is that there are crooks on board with a devious plot to subdue the guards and toss the gold off the train at an arranged spot to other members of the gang. On board are a variety of interesting characters, all of whom intermix into the film’s full speed plotline, including a pair of old maid whodunit authors, a mysterious dark woman seeking revenge, down on their luck entertainers, etc. There are also a number of nice moments of genuine humor thrown in for good measure. A great little quickie. 16mm.
