ONE WAY OUT (1955) Jill Adams, Eddie Byrne, Lyndon Brook, John Chandos, John Bushelle. Eddie is a police official about to retire. He is horrified, however, when he finds out his own daughter is innocently mixed up with a gang of crooks. Even worse, they’re blackmailing Eddie, threatening to send her to prison for a crime she didn’t even commit if he doesn’t play along. With his career hanging in the balance, Eddie comes up with a daring plan to keep her out of prison and take down the head racketeer. In a great final scene, Eddie waits in a road café to meet his destiny as the customers look on. Directed by Francis Searle, who was great with this kind of taut crime stuff. Chandos is excellent as the head bad guy. From 16mm DVD
