(1934) Carlos Villatoro, Marta Roel, Enrique Del Campo, Paco Martinez, Victorio Blanco. Three friends get lost in a forest in the middle of the night (a very dark and creepy night). They’re found by a monk who takes them to his ancient monastery for shelter. However, when they arrive at the crumbling building something strange happens. The monastery seems filled with dread and forboding. Soon the three visitors’ minds—affected by the sinister surroundings—start to become twisted. What then follows is a series of macabre events. This is a forgotten horror gem from south of the border whose use of B&W cinematography was obviously influenced by the early Universal horror classics. Cool. In Spanish, subtitled in English. From 35mm.
