MAN FROM HELL (1934, Kent) Reb Russell, Fred Kohler, Gabby Hayes, Yakima Canutt. The first of a short-lived series of westerns for former football star Russell, and probably his best. Reb plays a down-and-out ex-con going straight in a tough western town, but finding trouble at every turn. His girl even falls for the bad guy! Unknown to Reb though, she's being blackmailed into marriage. Not bad. 16mm.
ARIZONA BAD MAN (1935, Kent) Reb Russell, Lois January, Charles Whittaker. The daughter of a notorious cattle thief falls for a cowboy stranger at a barn dance. Later she finds out he’s a lawman come to arrest her father. A really cool opening title sequence. From a nice old 16mm original print.
CHEYENNE TORNADO (1935, Willis Kent Prod.) Reb Russell, Victoria Vinton, Roger Williams, Edmund Cobb. Reb, an All American football player they tried to make into a movie star, plays the Cheyenne kid, who intervenes when a gang of cattlemen tries to force a sheepherder’s family off the range. 16mm.
LIGHTNING TRIGGERS (1935, Kent) Reb Russell, Yvonne Pelletier, Fred Kohler, Jack Rockwell. Reb plays a Cattleman's agent sent in to stop to a marauding gang of rustlers. He tries to infiltrate the gang by telling their leader that he's recently escaped from jail and wants to join up. Action and danger follow.
