Armchair fiction presents extra large editions of the best in classic science fiction novels and short stories, complete with original illustrations. Here’s one of the true early classics of science fiction, E. E. “Doc” Smith & Lee Hawkins Garby’s “The Skylark of Space.” Smith and Garby wrote this early space opera gem in the late 1920s. It was first published in the August, September, and October 1928 issues of Hugo Gernsback’s Amazing Stories. At the time of publication, editor Gernsback fairly raved about it, describing it in this way… “the greatest interplanetarian and space flying story that has appeared this year.
