Westerns B WESTERN COLLECTIONS, JOHNNY MACK BROWN, Vol. 1

EVERYMAN’S LAW (1936, Supreme) Johnny Mack Brown, Beth Marion, Frank Campeau.  Johnny (the Dog Town Kid) is hired by a tyrannical cattle baron to run all homesteaders out of the valley.  He runs into a pretty young homesteader (with baby in tow) and changes his mind.  Blazing action follows.  A top Supreme production.  Marion is among the loveliest of B western gals.  From a stunning 16mm print.

VALLEY OF THE LAWLESS (1936, Supreme) Johnny Mack Brown, Joyce Compton, George Hayes.  JM tracks down a bandit who knows the location of buried gold, rightfully belonging to Johnny’s kin.  When the bandit is killed, Johnny is blamed.  He escapes the law though, and heads for the Valley of the Lawless, where the gold is buried.  It’s also home to a gang of ruthless killers!  A top Brown film.  16mm.

GUNS IN THE DARK (1937, Republic) Johnny Mac Brown, Claire Rochelle, Syd Saylor, Ted Adams.  After mistakenly thinking he killed his friend in a saloon, Brown goes to work for Rochelle, who has a contract to build a damn.  An outlaw gang is sabotaging the project, though.  Interesting drug-smuggling subplot in this classy Republic production.  From 16mm.

THE TEXAS KID (1943, Monogram) Johnny Mack Brown, Ray Hatton, Marshall Reed, Shirley Patterson.  An outlaw known as “the Kid” tries to go straight when he buys into a stage line.  Things get tense when his old gang robs one of the stages!  Johnny whips out his six-shooters and comes a-callin’.  From 16mm.
