(1973) Carol Connors, Jack Birch, Lea Vivot, Robert Bourassa, Joe Banana. This may be the most lovably bad biker movie ever made. We’ve released many classic bad movies over the years, but Road of Death may sink to a new nadir, previously unreached. It is simply horrendous—yet mesmerizing in the most indescribable way. The opening scene where the bikers all gather in a meadow instantly shows the ineptness of the director, Rene Martinez, Jr., who probably just pointed his finger and said, “Go.” The star is Carol Connors, who was a known porn actress. The plot is simple: bad ass bikers go wild and terrorize a group of ‘70s swingers. The acting is appalling! There are skinny dipping scenes, rape scenes, nude scenes, and lots of ineptly-staged fight scenes. The hero is Jack Birch, who looks good in long shots, but close-ups make you cringe. You also get to hear the rockin’ sounds of the Joe Banana Thing, a group I’m sure we all remember. The guy who produced this mess was Joe Fink. Wow. We had forgotten about this title but recently found an old ¾” master in storage. The quality is a tad soft but it’s still quite watchable. Nice color. Originally from 35mm.
