Westerns OLD HOMESTEAD, THE*

(1935) Mary Carlisle, Lawrence Gray, Willard Robertson, Eddie Nugent, Dorothy Lee, Roy Rogers (as Len Sly). Okay, this isn’t really a western, but it’s got a lot of good western tunes, and most importantly, it’s the first billed appearance of Len Sly as part of a country band. Sly of course went on to become Roy Rogers. The plot involves a talent scout who brings Roy and the boys to New York to appear on “The Old Homestead” radio program. Pleasant stuff overall. 16mm.
