This, the grand-daddy of Italian muscleman movies, catapulted Steve Reeves from Mr. Universe to mythic hero. Who can forget the opening scene where Hercules stops a runaway chariot (with a beautiful babe aboard) by uprooting a tree and tossing it onto the roadway as the chariot comes charges toward it. Lots of spectacular thrills follow in this classic sword and sandal movie. Reeves went on to star in HERCULES UNCHAINED a few months later. Based on the Greek tale of Jason and the Argonauts.
