(1965, Upgraded 11/15/22) Marie Laforet, Francisco Rabal, Akim Tamiroff, Charles Denner, Stéphane Audran, Serge Reggiani. A beautiful woman (Laforet) is traveling by train when a stranger—who is obviously hiding from someone on board—entrusts her with an ornament shaped like a tiger with ruby eyes. What she doesn’t know is that the jewels are fakes and actually contain a virus powerful enough to destroy all mankind. The evil Doctor Kha (wonderfully played by Tamiroff) is one of many spies trying to get their hands on the tiger, which will give them power over the rest of the world. Laforet uses sheer female cunning to fend off all attackers. This is a cool science fiction intrigue thriller with a real James Bondish feel to it. Some very nice off-beat humor is thrown in for good measure. Aka Marie-Chantal vs. Doctor Kha. From a Beautiful color 35mm anamorphic widescreen print.
