(1959, Upgraded 12/30/20) John Merivale, Didi Sullivan, Gerard Herter, Gay Pearl, directed by Riccardo Freda. Widescreen. This is one cool sci-fi horror film. A living, man-devouring radioactive mass is discovered in a subterranean pool near ancient Mayan ruins. Fragments of it are taken back to civilization where they grow into another horrible blob. Mario Bava's moody photography is a standout. The scene where Caltiki crashes through a partition and devours the crazed scientist is an unforgettable moment. A really engaging, mysterious movie that contains some truly scary moments. From an excellent 35mm widescreen print.
