(1936) Frankie Darro, Kane Richmond, Jack LaRue, Frances Grant. Mastered from a beautiful 16mm original print. Kane, a boxer, defends himself when confronted by a mobster for not taking a dive. The mobster ends up injured. While in hiding, Kane helps an aspiring fighter start his career—until the mob catches on. Most of the Kane-Darrow films are pretty good. This may be the best of the bunch. The rolling opening credits are right out of a Warner’s movie.
