Mystery-Suspense-Film Noir

(1961) Robert Graf, Magali Noel, Gotz George, Harry Meyen. Not officially part of the Edgar Wallace German Krimi series of the early '60s, but its overall look and feel is similar.  A fashion designer has murdered his mistress.  Much to his chagrin, he discovers a friend outside his mistress's home right after the murder!  Obviously his pal then becomes his next target for killing.  The film's long opening sequence (interwoven into the credits) is a view from the killer's eyes as he moves about the apartment, cleaning up after himself--doing dishes, putting things away, etc.  He then moves into the bedroom where we see a woman, murdered, lying on her back on top of the bed--her head leaning upside down over the edge, an expression of death on her face.  It is a memorable sequence to a very well-made German thriller. Eventually our killer ends up at a high society “murder party” where things soon begin to unravel. Very engaging. From 16mm.
