(1940) Flora Robeson, Russell Newton, Ann Todd, Geoffrey Toone. A very unusual thriller. A small English village is besieged by a series of horrible letters sent to the townsfolk, accusing various villagers of scandalous actions. The uproar is such that soon suicide and murder follow. The evidence seems to point in the direction of the local vicar’s spinster sister. Robeson and Newton are exceptional in this fine British thriller. 16mm.
