(1944) David Farrar, Manning Whiley. A fine British murder mystery that was one of the later entries in the famed Sexton Blake series. On a dark, foggy night a mysterious stranger saws off the hand of a freshly murdered man. The stranger later falls to his death from a bridge onto the deck of a passing ship below. When his body is examined, the crew discovers the decapitated hand in his possession. Sexton Blake is soon on the scene trying to figure where the mysterious trail of murder leads to. Who is the mysterious villain known as “Slant Eyes?” The Blake films are perhaps the most underrated of all detective film series. Very cool. From 16mm.
