(1960, Upgraded 8/27/21) John Ashley, Lowell Brown, Judy Nugent, Steve Stevens, Gary Vinson, Daria Massey. Ashley plays Matt Stevens, a rich teenager who, because of his wealth, found himself shunned at school. So he sets up a high school protection racket that leads to all kinds of fun problems for school officials. He then becomes the big man on the high school campus. He bullies students for protection money, acquires illegal copies of tests for a fee; he even rigs the votes in the school election so he can become student body president. All this, of course, leads to his ultimate downfall with his gang shunning him at the end of the movie. Ashley turns in a helluva performance. Way above average for this kind of low budget drive-in movie and one of our very best J.D. movies. It cemented Ashley's status as a B-movie juvenile star. Nice music score with a snappy opening titles song. Anamorphic widescreen from 35mm.
