(1951, Upgraded 2/28/21) Lon Chaney, Raymond Burr, Barbara Payton, Tom Conway, Paul Cavanagh, Gisela Werbisek. The setting is a steamy jungle estate where a deadly love triangle has evolved between Burr, Payton, and Cavanagh. Things start to spiral out of control when a voodoo priestess puts a curse on Burr, which makes him lust for the jungle and slowly transforms him into a monstrous ape. Chaney is the all-wise police official who knows what is happening, yet seems powerless to stop the deadly supernatural forces at play. Barbara (who looks great) is caught in the middle of the impending supernatural horror. The success of this film spurred its producer, Jack Broder into making BELA LUGOSI MEETS A BROOKLYN GORILLA.
