(1932) Joel McCrea, Fay Wray, Leslie Banks, Robert Armstrong. One of the best jungle-horror thrillers ever made! A mad Russian count hunts humans for sport on his sinister jungle island. But when big game hunter McCrea is shipwrecked on his island, a macabre game of cat and mouse begins. The camera work, especiaslly suring the jungle chase scenes, is amazing. This movie also has many great closeups, which help accentuate the feeling of terror. Some of the screams of men dying on board the sinking yacht were later reused in King Kong. Imagine Lugosi as Count Zaroff. Wow... A fine Max Steiner score. From 35mm.
