(1968, Upgraded 12/9/21) Duane jones, Judith O'Dea, Marilyn Eastman, Karl Hardman, Judith Ridely, Keith Wayne. This is one of the best NOLD DVD editions on the market today. You get the original full screen edition on disc one; then you'll feast your eyes on the anamorphic widescreen edition on disc two—both from stunning 35mm materials. We've also thrown in the original NOLD trailer, plus more. We all know the story: a group of people are trapped in a broken-down farmhouse, somewhere in the wilds of rural Pennsylvania. They are surrounded by a small army of flesh-eating zombies. The opening graveyard sequence and the ensuing chase scene toward the deserted farmhouse are unforgettable. The fiery explosion near the gas pump and the following zombie feast are moments that will live forever in the annals of horror film history. There are many other equally classic moments. NOLD also has some of the greatest dialogue ever written for a horror film. "Yeah, they're dead...they're...all messed up" is just one of dozens of classic lines. This is arguably the last great black and white horror film with some of the greatest moments of B&W cinematography ever put on film. Thus, it seems clear that Night of the Living Dead is one of the greatest horror films ever made. PLEASE NOTE: NOLD was officially release as a 1.37:1 formatted film. However, it appears to have actually been framed by the camera crew with a widescreen view, which was often the case back then and it's especially noticeable in NOLD's opening credits. We therefore offer it in the 1.66:1 widescreen format.
