THE MIGHTY URSUS (1961) Ed Fury, Christina Gajoni, Mario Scaccia. Ursus learns that his fiancée, Attea, has been taken to an eerie island ruled by a evil pagan goddess. The strange tribe living there has a nasty habit of sacrificing virgins—which obviously doesn’t say much for Ursus’ and Attea’s sex life. Ursus and a beautiful, blind slave girl set out to find and free Attea. Color, widescreen, from 16mm. HERCULES AND THE PIRATES (1960) Alan Steel, Rosalba Neri, Piero Lulli. Hercules uncovers a plot by a powerful Pirate to kidnap the daughter of a powerful Governor. He and his comrades set sail to do battle with the pirate’s forces. For a B sword and sandal opus, this comes off well, with decent scripting and well-staged action scequences. Aka Hercules and the Black Pirate. Color, 16mm.
